When we begin the yoga journey we usually begin with the physical aspect.
Physically, we can transform shallow breath into deep breath with pranayama, muscular weakness into strength with the use of poses or asana. Mentally, we can reduce stress and increase focus with meditation and mindfulness. Emotionally, we can dissolve tension, reduce stress and access inner tranquility using a combination of all of the tools from yoga.
More than any other benefit, however, is the expansion of mindful awareness that comes from a regular practise.
Awareness is where your attention is, awareness is your natural state.
Bringing attention and awareness to your thought patterns as you carry on your work or daily activities, you notice more of how much is focused with intent or simply aimlessly going about your day?
Meditation is the perfect arena for building mindful awareness.
When you take the time to carefully observe your mind, you notice the thoughts and feelings being generated. As you begin to notice your thoughts and feelings with awareness you are more at liberty to make those changes in your thought processes for the better. We allow for a mind shift in the direction that best serves and guides us.
Everyone’s mind is busy! Just take the time to watch it.
It only takes a couple of moments in each day to watch what is happening and as we become more experienced the length of time increases automatically and with ease.
When you know exactly what the mind is thinking, you are in a position to guide and redirect it away from useless chatter into the stillness of just being in the moment.
Balance, peace, joy, love, harmony, health and wellness; “As Within, So Without”!
