Now that you have found your spot gently close your eyes or have a soft gaze (and what do I mean by a soft gaze, imagine you are hugging a person or pet that you love, feel the release of any tension in your face as it softens and relaxes with that embrace). Be assured when you have done this a few times it becomes second nature and you can go into chaotic surroundings with a clam mind and clarity of intention!
Next connect with, observe or follow the natural flow of the breath, check in with how you are feeling now.
Are you feeling tired or sluggish? If you are sit forward on your chair and take 5-8 slow deep breaths, as you inhale lengthen through the spine and gently raise your chin slightly and on the exhale lower back to center. To intensify add in some arm movements, (if you have the room that is) expanding through the chest raising the arms out to the side and overhead on the inhale and lower back to the knees on the exhale. Then gently return to the natural flow of the breath observing the changes in your energy and mind, remaining until comfortable to move.
Or are you feeling the opposite, too much overwhelm or monkey mind? If so and you have the space, sit on the edge of your chair, inhale lengthening through the spine, fold forward gently lowering your chin towards your chest resting your forehead on your arms crossed in front of you utilising a desk or wall to rest on. Now take 5-8 slow deep breaths. Then gently return to the upright position and the normal flow of the breath observing the changes in the mind and energy until your are comfortable to move.
At any time you feel light-headed or uncomfortable simply go back to your normal breath and position and remain seated until you feel comfortable to move.
